Mission

Our mission is to serve those who serve, those who have served, and those who will serve. We encourage and facilitate camaraderie among active, retired, and former officers and their surviving spouses. We participate in appropriate community service projects; monitor and further the national legislative programs and other objectives of the Military Officers Association of America; monitor and further the legislative objectives and provide useful services to members, their dependents, and their survivors.

Information on Joining the Chapter

Membership in the Chattanooga Chapter is open to anyone who holds or has ever held a commission or warrant in any component of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service or National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and their surviving spouses. A Membership Application may be obtained by writing to MOAA Chattanooga at P.O. Box 24482, Chattanooga, TN 37422 or by contacting the Membership Chairman, LTC B. Ray Adkins, USA (Ret.) at adkins@epbfi.com or at 423-825-0823.

Chapter Activities

The Chapter holds bi-monthly general/dinner meetings on even months featuring prominent guest speakers, a special Christmas party featuring local entertainment (a USMC Toys for Tots program donation is required for attendance)and our annual ROTC/JROTC Awards Ceremony Banquet. We participate in all Armed Forces Day Celebration activities in Chattanooga as well as the Memorial Day and Veteran's Day Services. A Chapter Memorial Service round out the year’s activities. We support 16 JROTC and 1 ROTC program with both scholarship and program support.

Legislative Issues

The MOAA Chapter supports the MOAA national legislative agenda and we annually invite our Congressional Representative and Senators to speak to the chapter. The chapter is also active in supporting the Chattanooga Area Veterans Council. Current legislative issues of interest to the Chapter and members are reported to the membership in the monthly newsletter. Members are encouraged to personally support these issues by expressing their support directly to the appropriate agency.

General Information

Chapter membership meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of every other month (even months). Venues are announced well in advance and guests are always welcome. Reservations are required for all meetings. Our next meeting is at the Walden Club. Hospitality at 6:00pm, dinner at 6:45pm with program following. Reservation can be made to CDR(Ret.), USN, Jim Hargrove at 1739 Bayfront Drive, Soddy Daisy, TN 37379 or email questions jhargrove@epbfi.com. Cost is $35.00 per person. Please make checks payable to "MOAA Chattanooga Chapter" * * If you cannot make our August dinner the next dinner is October 22, 2019. Same time, location, and cost as mentioned above.

About Our Chapter

In 1976 a local Chapter of The Retired Officers Association of America was formed and chartered. This Chapter became the Chattanooga Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America in 2003. Meetings are held monthly in a variety of venues. The Chapter Newsletter is also published and emailed monthly. Our Chapter serves the greater Chattanooga area of southeastern Tennessee and surrounding areas of northwest Georgia and northeast Alabama. Chapter membership consists of Active Duty, Retired, and Former Officers and spouses of deceased members.
