Lt. Cmdr. Angela C. McClendon, USPHS, earned a Master of Social Work degree from Saint Louis University in 1998, after completion of undergraduate studies at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her federal career began in civilian service to the VA, where she advocated for homeless veterans at the Atlanta VA Medical Center and supervised responders at the Veterans and Military Crisis Line.
Angela commissioned as an active duty U.S. Public Health Service officer in 2017, upon culmination of 10 years of service as a first lieutenant in the Georgia State Defense Force. Since commissioning, she has been assigned to the California Area Office of the Indian Health Service, where she is dedicated to coordination of cultural and trauma informed care for American Indian/Alaskan Native adolescents. Whether at her duty station or when deployed, she progresses the USPHS mission to "protect, promote, and advance the health and safety of the Nation."
She has been a MOAA member since 2018.
