Maj. Kelly M. Pickett, USA (Ret), retired from the Army in 2019 after serving more than 12 years. She served initially as a signal officer and then as a public affairs officer for most of her career. Her assignments included overseas tours in Kuwait (twice), Jordan, and the Republic of Korea, and stateside tours in Georgia, Missouri, Texas, and Washington.
Pickett’s military roles included: executive officer for the 24th Theater Public Affairs Support Element in Fort Bliss, Texas; speechwriter for the commanding general of III Armored Corps in Fort Hood, Texas; deputy media operations officer for Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve headquarters in Kuwait; communications partner at USAA in San Antonio as part of the Army’s Training With Industry program; brigade public affairs officer for 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team in Fort Bliss and 210th Field Artillery Brigade in Camp Casey, Republic of Korea; and commander of the 4th Public Affairs Detachment in Fort Hood and Amman, Jordan.
Since retirement, Pickett has shifted her focus to becoming an engaged military spouse, volunteering to support multiple Soldier and Family Readiness Group efforts.
Pickett is a lifelong Army brat who claims Fort Worth as home. She holds a Master of Arts in Business and Organizational Security Management from Webster University and a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Texas Christian University. She is the spouse of an active duty Army officer.
