Whitney Armstrong

Whitney Armstrong is a devoted pillar to the Air Force community and asset to DoD's military family assistance system. She has dedicated countless hours in support of civilian and military families all over the world through her experience as a Heartlink instructor, Key Spouse/Mentor, teacher, military and community liaison, USO Center Manager, Director and Vice President for Military Spouse Advocacy Network, and dedicated philanthropist.

Nationally recognized for her outstanding accomplishments in supporting military members and families, Whitney has received numerous awards and honors to include the Volunteer Excellence Award, 363rd Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance Wing Key Spouse of the Year, and most notably, the winner of the 2020 Joan Orr Air Force Spouse of the Year.

In 2019, on a platform advocating for military families, she was hand-picked for the highly-competitive Presidential Leadership Scholars Program, a diverse network of mid-career professionals brought together to collaborate and make a difference in the world as they examine leadership through the lens of the presidential experiences of George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and Lyndon B. Johnson through interactions with former presidents, key administration officials, civic leaders, and more.

Whitney received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado and taught English/Language Arts to students across five schools in four different states through several military moves. After facing relocation barriers to licensure and certification as the spouse of an active duty military member, Whitney found a passion for nonprofit support of military families and policy reform. She has significant experience in volunteer management, development and fundraising, strategic partnerships/outreach, and event planning/execution.

In 2020, Whitney was selected to join the inaugural cohort of the LBJ Women’s Campaign School through the University of Texas at Austin and concurrently pursued her Master’s in Public Administration at the Harvard Kennedy School through the Public Leadership Credential. With an eye on the future of military spouse and family advocacy, Whitney looks forward to working with MOAA's Currently Serving Spouse Advisory Council to provide insight and assistance on the most pressing issues of our time.
