Nancy Carr

Nancy Carr provides executive level support to MOAA’s general counsel, senior leadership and board of directors. She joined the MOAA staff in 1987 and has served as membership supervisor, deputy director of public relations and communications prior to becoming executive assistant to the general counsel and corporate secretary.

 

Carr has more than 20 years of public and media relations experience focused on promoting MOAA’s mission to serve the military community. During her career, she has worked with the White House, Department of Veterans Affairs and DoD staff and served on several committees with each. She is a native of Alexandria, Va., and has a bachelor's degree in theatre from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).

 

She is the proud daughter of a Navy fighter pilot and Korean War veteran, and spouse of a Coast Guard retiree.

Career Highlights

  • Led MOAA’s participation as host of the Veterans Day National Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery in 2015, with President Barack Obama, Secretary of the VA and MOAA President and CEO as keynote speakers, and the following reception at Women in Military Service for America Memorial
  • Assisted director of PR to conceptualize and produce MOAA’s first Awards Ceremony and reception on Capitol Hill, now in its 23rd year and an annual signature event for the organization
  • Appointed and served as the first ombudsman for the USCGC Acushnet (WMEC-167) during her husband’s service in Gulfport, Miss.
