LinkedIn has partnered with the VA to offer military caregivers a free year of LinkedIn Premium. The program, valued at about $300 a year, offers users access to career-boosting resources such as online learning tools and skills-based evaluations designed to connect them with the right job.

The program, also now available to Fry Scholars, is an expansion of an initiative that began in 2011 in response to former President Barack Obama's call to action to lower the unemployment rate of veterans. Initially, it was offered to veterans and transitioning servicemembers.

Those who take part in the VA Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers can request LinkedIn Premium access by sending their full name and the name of the veteran in their care, along with contact information, to CAREGIVERLINKED.VBANYN@va.gov. Learn more about the program here.

The VA recognizes the important role caregivers play in the rehabilitation of military servicemembers and offers benefits programs to assist them in their roles. The Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers offers benefits including monthly stipends, educational resources, and health insurance to caregivers of eligible veterans with a qualifying injury on or after Sept. 11, 2001.

Caregivers also can receive up to 45 months of educational resources and on-the-job training leading to certificates, college degrees, and more.

MOAA also recognizes the importance of caregivers and provides resources to support them. In partnership with the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, MOAA's website hosts Tips for Lifelong Caregiving, a comprehensive guide that contains a breadth of information related to becoming a caregiver, including caregiver benefits, legal rights, scholarships, and additional programs and services in support of caregivers of former and currently serving members.
