Raus is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, earning his Army commission in 1998. He holds a Master’s degree in Administration from Central Michigan University.

Raus has served in numerous command and staff assignments of increasing responsibility. His recent assignments include Assistant Professor, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the AFRICOM Inter-Agency Liaison to USAID. He also served as Brigade Aviation Maintenance Commander, Battalion Executive Officer, and Operations Officer in Iraq and the U.S.

Raus commits his off-duty time to volunteer organizations that provide service and support to the military community.
